A classic full of chaos, mischief, and the cutest Mogwai ever.
I just have to say – the mom is totally the hero of this story. She defeats three gremlins on her own. She’s super supportive of her tinkering failure of a husband. She’s raised an incredibly sweet kid. Here she is in action…
Let’s give it up for Billy’s mom and toast her with a drink.
When I was searching online for a drink, one configuration of a “Gremlin” cocktail called for 3 oz whiskey and 1 oz lime juice, served over ice and stirred. I’m not a huge whiskey fan, so this drink wasn’t my cup of tea, but if you like whiskey and a bit of tart, give it a try.
Drinking Game: Gremlins by Drinking Cinema
“First of all, keep him out of the light, he hates bright light, especially sunlight, it’ll kill him. Second, don’t give him any water, not even to drink. But the most important rule, the rule you can never forget, no matter how much he cries, no matter how much he begs, never feed him after midnight.”
During your Gremlins Christmas theme party, you could eat some chicken wings, like Stripe and the others ate, causing them to turn.
What I chose to make was cookies! Billy’s mom was decorating cookies before the gremlins ruined her holiday. It’s only fitting to make some gremlin and Mogwai cookies for your party.
Gremlin and Mogwai Cookies
- Ready to bake cookie dough
- Vanilla frosting
- Chocolate, green, and black sprinkles
- Cinnamon red hots
Bake three ready to bake cookies in a row, so they will merge (8-10 min at 375 degrees). The middle will serve as the head and the two cookies on each side the ears. Once the cookies have cooled a little, trim the “ears” so they are pointed – it’s ok if they’re not perfect
Cover each head and ears in vanilla frosting.
To create the gremlin head cookie, cover it in green and black sprinkles. Use the cinnamon red hots to make the eyes. To create the Mogwai head, use the chocolate sprinkles to create the brown patches of “fur.” Use almonds to create the eyes. Fun and quick to make – yummy to eat!
